CSL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Qualification

For ITI Trade Apprentice Posts

Candidates should have:

  • Passed 10th standard, and
  • Passed ITI (National Trade Certificate – NTC) in one of the trades specified in the notification.

The ITI qualification must correspond to the trade for which the candidate is applying.

For Technician (Vocational) Apprentice Posts

Candidates should have passed Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) in the concerned discipline listed in the notification.

Important eligibility point

Having an ITI certificate alone does not mean that a candidate is eligible for every trade. Candidates should match their ITI trade with the particular trade listed in the vacancy table before submitting the application.

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 18 years old as on 8 October 2026.

The notification also specifies that candidates must satisfy the applicable apprenticeship and eligibility conditions mentioned in the recruitment notification.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories should check the official notification for the applicable provisions before applying.

Kerala Domicile Requirement

This is one of the most important points candidates should check before applying.

The notification states that the applicant should be a resident of Kerala. Therefore, candidates from other states should not assume that they are eligible simply because they possess the required ITI or VHSE qualification.

If you are from another state, check the domicile condition carefully before starting the application.

Stipend

Selected apprentices will receive a stipend of ₹11,000 per month during the apprenticeship training.

The engagement is for one year of apprenticeship training under the applicable apprenticeship framework.

Important: Apprenticeship is not the same as permanent employment

Candidates should understand that completing apprenticeship training does not automatically guarantee a permanent job at Cochin Shipyard Limited.

The purpose of the engagement is apprenticeship training under the applicable Act and rules. Candidates should therefore consider this recruitment as an opportunity for structured practical training and apprenticeship experience, rather than as a direct permanent appointment.

Selection Process

The selection process does not involve a conventional written examination according to the recruitment information.

The process includes:

  1. Shortlisting based on marks obtained in the prescribed qualification
  2. Merit consideration for the notified trade/discipline
  3. Certificate verification
  4. Medical fitness requirements
  5. Provisional selection against the notified seats
  6. Execution of the apprenticeship contract through the relevant apprenticeship portal

Where candidates have equal marks, the notification provides for age-based consideration for determining relative merit.

Candidates should keep their original certificates and required documents ready for verification.

Application Fee

The application fee for this apprenticeship recruitment is Nil.

Candidates should be cautious of anyone asking for money in exchange for selection, an interview, or an offer letter. CSL itself warns about fraudulent recruitment communications and states that recruitment updates are published through its official Career page.
